Starting January 1, 2025, the invoice number for VAT Calculation Service invoices will be shortened to 14 characters

Starting January 1, 2025, the invoice number for VAT Calculation Service invoices will be shortened to 14 characters. An example is GB41WMTXK60R5I.

The following table shows the new format of the invoice number.

This change applies to the following marketplaces:

  • UK
  • FR
  • DE
  • IT
  • ES
  • NL
  • PL
  • SE
  • BE

Who is affected?

This change affects developers who write applications for sellers who have both of the following characteristics:

  • The seller is enrolled in the VAT Calculation Service.
  • Amazon creates invoices on the seller's behalf.

What action is required?

If your seller is enrolled in the VAT Calculation Service and Amazon creates invoices on the seller's behalf, evaluate whether the new invoice number format has any implications for your implementation. Make any required changes before January 1, 2025.
