Access Shipping V2 APIs with Sandbox Apps

We are excited to announce that Shipping V2 API endpoints can now be accessed via the Developer Central Client App with Sandbox status.

Why is this important and who can benefit from this?

The change allows shippers and third-party developers to directly integrate and use the Shipping V2 APIs within the sandbox environment. Previously, accessing the Shipping V2 Sandbox API endpoints required the Developer App to be in Draft or Published status, involving specific approvals and lead times, which caused delays in starting the API development process. Now, new developers can immediately begin development after registering their developer account, while continuing their developer on-boarding process in parallel.

What marketplace will it affect?

This enhancement applies to all integrators and developers working with the Shipping V2 APIs in the sandbox environment, regardless of the marketplace.

What is the change, and what are the benefits?

With this enhancement, developers can now access the Shipping V2 sandbox APIs using sandbox app credentials created in Developer Central or Seller Central. This change offers the following benefits:

  1. Early Access to APIs: Shippers and Integrators can start the integration process earlier by accessing the sandbox APIs without waiting for production app credential approvals.
  2. Dedicated Testing Environment: The sandbox environment provides a safe and isolated space for testing and experimenting with the APIs without affecting live operations.
  3. Improved Developer Experience: The streamlined integration process enhances productivity and satisfaction for developers.

How to use it?

To access the Shipping V2 sandbox APIs, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Developer Central or Seller Central account.
  2. Navigate to the "Developer App Client" section.
  3. Create new sandbox app or use existing sandbox app.
  4. Now generate a refresh token via clicking on "create token" from the "Action" menu.
  5. Use these sandbox app credentials to authenticate and generate an access token.
  6. Now invoke the Shipping V2 sandbox endpoints providing the access token.

FAQs:

  1. What systems will be impacted?
This change primarily impacts the sandbox environment for the Shipping V2 APIs. It does not affect the production environment or any other Amazon systems.
  2. Will this change affect how I am using the APIs now for generating shipments?
No, this change does not affect the way you currently use the Shipping V2 APIs for generating shipments in the production environment. It only enhances the experience for developers working in the sandbox environment during the development and testing phases.

We encourage all developers to take advantage of this new enhancement and experience the benefits of streamlined access to the Shipping V2 sandbox APIs. For more information or assistance, please refer to the developer documentation.
